Ready.

Filed Under (Trip Journals) by Anthony StClair on 10-03-2008

Sunday’s ride marked a definite turning point for me.

  • No ballast
  • Rode all range of speeds, from 25mph to 55mph
  • Rode in traffic

It all sums up to one thing: I’m ready for regular ol’ Ural driving. It’s a good feeling, and one I’ve just got from the inside out. I’ve had my bike for a little less than a month, and feel really good about the pace I’ve taken to learn my Patrol and how it rides.

Time to start taking it out properly.

Jodie and Ella will be so happy…

  1. Just wait Anthony, soon you’ll be writing that you hit 65 and the bike/you loved it! Last fall my speedo was bouncing around 75. Sure that was coming down hill but that is besides the point!!
There are 3 of us crazies up here in the Albany area that try to get together. Me on my 05 GU and 2 06 Patrols. I’ve had mine for a year now and have put about 8000km on it, about 50/50 road/dirt. I’ve rolled it over 3 times. I’ll save that story for another time! My wife wouldn’t ride with me on my “regular” bikes but she can’t wait to go “Uraling” again! Soon we’ll have to get the Willamette Valley Ural riders together for a trip into the coast range. Gonna be a great summer!!

  2. You rolled a Ural… 3 times? Holy moly, I can’t wait to hear those stories! And here I am, feeling proud to have finally gotten to 55mph :-)

Will be great to meet up with you and the other Albany Uralists sometime, sounds awesome!

What got you into sidecar rigs?
