Soviet Steeds - Need advice on windshield and mirrors

Pondering whether or not to get a windshield for your Ural? Which types and brands should you consider?

“I am looking for a windshield. Just wanna keep the rocks and bugs off me and maybe deflect a little wind. I am leaning towards a handlebar mount frameless style but will consider all recomendations.”

  1. In Florida we get bugs, nasty splat type critters. I saw the clear, upright shield from Holopaw Corvette (Ural) in Florida and choose this one. The mounts are custom made by them and the instructions are basic but just a phone call gets you any information you need. I love the shield is very good, tall, and takes a great deal of wind off you chest. Beinging that we sit upright this is very useful on a long ride and extends your ride time, looks very retro and not as bulky as the factory type. I can send a picture if you need. Happy riding, Glenn

  2. I have an ‘08 patrol with stock (non-dot) metal/plastic shield. Works fine. Much better than any of our 4 bmw aftermarket big-buck sheilds. As an aside, we have pulled boats on trailers and bikes (600 miles with a bmw r1200r)on trailers behind the patrol…no problem. We got the ural, the shield and a custom utility trailer from Holowpaw Corvette. Nice folks. Only gripe with the bike is quality/durability of paint and chrome. We like the bike a lot but would go with camo gear-up just to be able to do spray can touch-ups.
