Replace Your’s Ural’s Missing Parking Brake Screw

Filed Under (Ural Parts and Accessories, Ural Repair and Maintenance) by Anthony StClair on 05-05-2008

Never thought about this being an issue before. But when it comes to a Ural, now and again you pretty much need to check every visible bolt — right down to the humble bolt on the parking brake, as goes this discussion on Soviet Steeds: Parking Brake Screw

When I went to engage the parking brake I noticed that the screw that is attrached to the parking brake which holds the foot brake down was missing. My question…. Could someone look at the parking brake and describe to me what kind of screw I need to replace it? I remember it had a nut on it as well

By the way, the solution is simple: a M6-1 by 30mm long bolt.

Ural Gas Mileage: May 2, 2008 Fill-up

Filed Under (Trip Journals) by Anthony StClair on 02-05-2008

  • Gas Price Per Gallon: $3.919
  • Gallons: 3.778
  • Fuel Total: $14.81
  • Tripmeter at fuel-up: 166km/103 miles (approx)
  • kpg/mpg (approx.) 43.93kpg/27mpg
  • Odometer at fuel-up: 868km/539 miles
  • Date & Time: Friday, May 2, 2008, 4:34 p.m.
  • Gas Station: Jerry Brown CFN, 2690 Prairie Road, Eugene, Oregon, Eugene, Oregon
  • Fuel: V-Power (92 octane with 10% ethanol)

Notes on mileage: Confused to see my mileage back in the high 20s. Have been doing more around-town riding on this tank though, so that might be it. I had switched to reserve yesterday, but forgot to switch off it after fueling up. I don’t think this has any ramifications, but I put up a “Reserve” thread on Soviet Steeds to check. I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of ribbing for what’s probably a non-issue, but better to ask and know…

Working Out Some Bugs

Filed Under (Site News) by Anthony StClair on 02-05-2008

Been doing some system updating behind the scenes, and it turns out there are some bugs with adding images to the site. I’m working on sorting it out, but posting may be slow the next few days. A bit annoying, as I’m ready to put up a bunch of trip posts, but we’ll get there eventually.

In the meantime, if you haven’t already, go buy a Ural!
